Grandma's Photo Album Page 48 - McClures and Barbara in Millers Creek

This is a fun photo of me as a toddler with my uncle and aunt.  Uncle Horace Edward "Edd" or "Eddie" McClure (1931-2005) had a great sense of humor. He looks like he's about to say something funny!  Aunt Bette (living) looks very serious!

I recognize the yard as my grandparents in Millers Creek, Wilkes County, N.C.

(This was the only photo on this page in 1981 when I interviewed my grandmother and wrote down what she said.)

Grandma's Photo Album Page 47 - McLeans in Gloucester and McNeils and Snyders in Wilkes County

(Upper left) My uncle Jim (James Neil Snyder) married a McLean girl.  Here are some of her family in a photo probably taken in Gloucester, Mass., in 1963, when my grandparents visited their son, whom they called Neil.  Left to right:
  • Flora Gillis McLean (~1891-1951)
  • Uncle Jim - James Neil Snyder (1922-1993)
  • Unknown woman (not Jim's wife)
  • Archie McLean (1915-1997)

(Lower left)
My grandparents:
  • Wiley Thomas "Tom" Snyder (1892-1988)
  • Nora Bessie McNeil Snyder (1900-1992)
I think this photo was taken on a Sunday because Tom is dressed in church clothes.  The other six days, he wore overalls to do farm chores.

(Right) My grandmother's mother, Clara Eva Hettie Ellen Jarvis McNeil (1873-1959).
She had red hair when she was young, but it turned white.
